Carbon Disclosure Project
The Carbon Disclosure Project assesses organisational management of greenhouse gas emissions, climate change strategy, mitigation and adaptation.
In 2011, we ranked 4th among financial services providers in the FTSE 350 Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index and received a B rating in the Carbon Performance Leadership Index.
Our two point increase to 89 out of 100 compared to the 2010 score reflects our ongoing commitment to improving disclosure and management of our climate change impacts.
Dow Jones Sustainability Index
The Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) tracks the financial performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide. In 2011, Barclays maintained membership in the DJSI World Index, which represents the top 10 percent of the leading companies in the Dow Jones Global Total Stock Market Index.
Our performance did not change significantly in 2011, compared to 2010 scores, reflecting strong performance against the performance criteria. We are committed to continuous improvement, especially in the social and environmental criteria.
FTSE4Good
The FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to objectively measure the performance of companies that meet globally recognised corporate responsibility standards. We have been a member of the FTSE4Good index since its inception in 2001.
In March 2012, we scored 92 out of 100 on the Environmental, Social and Governance Rating (on a ‘supersector’ relative basis), which was introduced in April 2011.
Bloomberg Green Bank Ranking
The Bloomberg Green Bank ranking assesses financial services institutions on their environmental performance and investment in clean technology. We moved from 24th to 10th in the 2011 Bloomberg Green Bank Ranking, published in March 2012.
Business in the Community (BITC) Corporate Responsibility (CR) Index
The BITC CR Index is widely considered the leading UK benchmark for corporate responsibility. In 2012, Barclays maintained its gold ranking, achieving an overall score of 91%.
CommunityMark
BITC’s CommunityMark is the UK’s only national standard that publicly recognises excellence in community investment. We are a CommunityMark pioneer, one of the first companies to achieve the CommunityMark in 2008.
The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers
The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers is a guide to Britain's most respected and sought–after graduate employers. We placed 14th in the 2011 ranking, up from 17th in 2010.
